LDC, Land Design Consultant Inc.

Company History

Land Design Consultants (LDC), a land planning, environmental services, civil engineering and land surveying company, has been in operation since May of 1992. It was formed to serve the needs of land developers, builders, landowners, architects, government agencies and other land development consultants.

Prior to beginning LDC, the principals, Robert R. Sims (President), Larry L. Mar (Vice President), and Steve Hunter (Vice President) worked together the previous eight years at Engineering Service Corporation, a major full service civil engineering company. Over these years they have learned that their client’s primary needs are quick and efficient processing of the design plan approvals and documents. There are many other design companies in the Los Angeles area but most stress only the technical knowledge of the planning and engineering processes. This is only a part of the solution. A good working relationship with the government agencies, a thorough knowledge of the overall political process and an ability to work with people are equally if not even more important in this age of anti-development, environmental road blocks and added regulations. LDC recognizes this need and, as such, stresses this all-important aspect to the entitlement, permitting and tract recordation process.

LDC also recognizes that a good technical knowledge is still necessary, as is up to date techniques, computer hardware and software and other innovations that are necessary to meet the challenges of the future in the land development of Southern California. Sustainable development and “green” techniques are being applied to our design.

This philosophy has been proven to be correct. Starting in the middle of the worst recession since the 1980’s, this new company has grown from four people to over sixty full and part time employees, augmented by independent contractors and sub consultants.
